I am always amazed by the tremendous universal vogue of the Harry Potter books. The Harry Potter novels were written by the British author J.K. Rowling. She was given birth to on 31 July 1965. Her full name is Joanne Rowling. But she writes under the alias J.K. Rowling because primarily her publishing house considered it was a beneficial move not to show the point that she is female. The publishing house thought it could have a negative effect on the sales numbers if everybody instantaneously sees that the writer is female. Consequently, instead of showing her first name she used two letters. As she has no middle name she picked Kathleen as basis for the K. in her abbreviation. Kathleen is the name of her grandmother.

The first Harry Potter book – Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone – was released in the year 1997 in the United Kingdom. Quite remarkable is the matter that only thousand units of the first novel were released at that time. The original title of the novel was not Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, but Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. But when the novel was publicized to the US market on 1 September 1998, it was named Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

After that J.K. invented some additional Harry Potter novels. Today the Harry Potter series is made of 7 books. These are:

  • Vol. 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
  • Vol. 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Vol. 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Vol. 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Vol. 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Vol. 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Vol. 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The Harry Potter books have been translated into over sixty languages and have been released all over the world. Besides the tremendous success in the USA and the UK, Harry Potter is also very liked in the EU. The Harry Potter books have been publicized in Germany under these headers:

I must admit that I did not have the opportunity to read all the books. But there are readers who know them all, which is very remarkable and makes up the tremendous success.
